Yes, walking. Simple and straightforward, but could do you the world of good! This works up the cardiovascular system and burns calories. Why not make a day of it and go somewhere you haven’t explored? If your feeling up to it then speed up occasionally, maybe even going into a jog.

Who said you had to get physical to exercise? Working out your brain with mental activities can do wonders for your psyche. It’s been proven that sharpening your mental skills can help prevent neurological diseases such as dementia, as well as improving general quality of life. Here are some simple brain training activities to get started:
- Learn to play an instrument- Studies show that learning something new and complex over a longer period of time is ideal for an aging mind.
- Do maths in your head- Figure out problems without the aid of your phone or pencil. You may find it challenging, but that’s the point! Alternatively, try Sudoku.
- Learn a foreign language- The process of listening and hearing stimulates the brain. What’s more, a rich vocabulary has been linked to a reduced risk of cognitive decline.
- Draw a map from memory- After returning from visiting a new area, try to map out the area, adding to it whenever you go again. This will strengthen your memory greatly.
- Learn a new sport- Keep it simple. You can start by doing an athletic exercise that engages both your body and mind, such as golf, yoga or tennis.
- Refine your hand-eye coordination- Discover a new hobby that involves the use of fine-motor skills, such as drawing, painting, assembling a puzzle, etc.
